Terry Jackson |
Rev. Terry Jackson, a native of Huntsville, AL, first moved to Athens in 1996, working as the Music Minister. He became Senior Pastor in January of 2001.
Bro. Terry’s graduate work was at Anderson University, Anderson, IN, and Asbury Theological Seminary, Wilmore, KY. His graduate degree is in Biblical Studies, with an emphasis in Biblical Languages. His undergraduate degree is from Mid-America Christian University, where he graduated with a degree in Music and Bible. Bro. Terry is passionate about Christian Education, Christian Worship and creating a genuinely caring community at Athens Church of God.
Besides his work as a pastor and teacher, he is also an accomplished musician, singing, acting and directing productions for the local community and in the church.
He says of Athens Church of God, “God has placed us in a unique community with a unique message of Christian Unity and Holiness – each member is a gift of God to our congregation, bringing their own unique contributions to the work of the ministry.”

Music Director
Dixie Harrison |
Dixie Harrison is a native of Athens, AL, and has worked as Minister of Music since 2001.
Dixie earned her Bachelor’s in Music Education from Samford University, and her Master’s in Music Education from the University of North Alabama, with further graduate work at Southern Seminary, Louisville, KY, toward a Masters in Church Music. She has taught children’s drama classes at Ars Nova School of the Arts in Huntsville, AL, with the graded choir program at First Baptist Church, Athens, AL, and spent one summer as youth director at West Highland Baptist Church, Athens, AL.
Dixie also brings to the ministry of the church a background in professional theatre, having worked at Opryland, numerous dinner theatre productions throughout the Southeast, and two seasons with the San Diego Opera. She also appeared with Cumberland County Playhouse, Charlotte Repertory Theatre, Tennessee Repertory Theatre and the Tennessee State Company.
